Café Bohème
Synopsis
Café Bohème is a dance video starring Gioconda Barbuto and Bernard Martin. Filmed many years before screen-inside-a-screen filmmaking was common, the ‘live’ dancers watch and then begin to interact with the filmed dancers (another version of themselves).
Set to the iconic aria from Bizet’s opera Carmen, the scene takes place in a fictional café, two strangers attracted to each other. Live and onscreen – their inner thoughts? – become entwined.
